VICSWIM Summer Kidz to Operate in 2012

With the change of government in Victoria at the November 2010 election, the promised $1.6 million support for VICSWIM Summer Kidz will be put towards ensuring that the 2012 January program will be up and running once again.
Previously the Board of Aquatics & Recreation Victoria (ARV) had decided that the VICSWIM Summer Kidz aquatic education and water safety program could not operate for Summer 2011 without financial assistance from government as ARV, a not for profit organisation, could not afford to continue to underwrite it. This resulted in the cancellation of the 2011 program.
Planning can now commence for the 2012 program, which will operate on a per head subsidy basis, ensuring all Victorians can afford to provide this essential community aquatic education and water safety program to their families.
